For the 16th year, Olin Younger designed the lighting for the 2005 American Music Awards, one of the biggest and most watched award shows in the industry. The spectacular musical showcase called for numerous set changes and a multitude of lighting looks to compliment such diverse performers as The Rolling Stones, Santana, Gwen Stefani, Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Keith Urban, Cyndi Lauper, a reunited Eurythmics and many more.  Joe Stewart, set designer, created the backdrop  for  all  the  talent,  including  Cedric  the  Entertainer, host of the event.

Directed by Jeff Margolis and produced by Larry Klein for ABC, the show was taped at the Shrine Auditorium. Olin, with the help of the staff at Design Partners Inc., worked alongside Bob Bardo, the executive in charge of production, to ensure the lighting properly highlighted the entire event.
