For Cameron Crowe’s film, Vanilla Sky, Lee Rose was called in by cinematographer and Academy Award® winner John Toll, ASC and his gaffer Randy Woodside to help create the rave club scene. Working with Woodside, pre-rig Gaffer Chris Napolitano, Key Grip Herb Ault, and pre-rig Key Grip Gee Dhamarata, they converted "The Brewery", an old powerhouse in downtown Los Angeles, into a rave club.

Providing the lighting equipment for the production was Light & Sound Design / Fourth Phase (now PRG) with John Lobel and Mark Coleman acting as contacts. The rig consisted of over 500' of truss containing more than 100 Par-64 fixtures, High End System's Cyberlights, Cyberlight Turbos, Technobeams and AF-1000 strobes. Light & Sound Design / Fourth Phase's custom 1000 watt police beacons were built into special mirrored boxes for additional "dance scene" effects. Additional support, as always, was from John Wiseman. Using the Whole Hog 2 lighting controller, the production was programmed by David "Gurn" Kaniski and operated by Julian De La Pena.

Vanilla Sky was a remake of the 1997 Spanish thriller "Abre los Ojos" or "Open Your Eyes", and starred, in addition to Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Kurt Russell, Cameron Diaz and Jason Lee.
