The popular children’s TV show, The Doodlebops, traveled the U.S. early in 2007. John approached designing the show with a combo of theatrical and concert lighting. The show was half musical play and half concert – “we revealed the trusses and kicked it up a notch” for the concert portion of the show,” John remarks. The lighting rig for the tour included three High End Systems Cyberlights and eight ETC Source Fours with Sybron scrollers at the front of the house and, onstage, twelve Vari*Lite VL6Cs, another twelve VL5Arcs and six Martin Atomic strobes. The whole show was controlled by the High End Systems Wholehog II. John used the ShowViz pre-visualization lab to work out just how he could cover all his looks with fewer lights.
