With Kim’s expertise in lighting live television he was sought out to provide lighting design for a live broadcast of one of the highest rated dramas on TV, West Wing. The lighting was designed, circuited and patched ahead of time for “The Debate” episode, to accommodate a one-day load in. The entire rig called for 7 electricians and 10 hours to set up. Kelly Waldman handled gaffer duties, Jim Motsinger was the board operator, and John O’Brien and Chuck Reilly partnered as video control.
The highly publicized live episode was line produced by Tom Park; Alex Graves was the director and executive producer. “The Debate” featured an intense political debate scene, an area with which Kim is very familiar, having worked on various real televised debates and political speeches.
In addition to West Wing, Kim has recently participated on two live episodes of Will and Grace.
