In the music industry, there are very few artists who surpass superstar status to become true American icons. CMT feels Hank Williams Jr. is one of those deserving few, and his work and his legacy will be honored in their newest two-hour live concert special.

Taped in October of this year at The Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, the 2-hour show featured 10 live performances including those by Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Steven Tyler, Brad Paisley, Kid Rock, Gretchen Wilson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Shooter Jennings, Holly Williams and Buddy Guy. Jimmy Kimmel and Terry Bradshaw were non-musical talent participants. Each of the ten performances was backed by Hank Williams, Jr.'s band.

The centerpiece of the set was a massive sign built with multi-circuited light bulbs spelling out “HANK jr.”  These lights allowed for a variety of chase effects. Brunton hung truss above and below the sign as well as extending down the sides of the stage. On the trusses were VL6C profiles and VL2416 wash lights to separately light the band and also create graphic effects. To frame the performance space, large truss chevrons were hung off-stage -- one pair upstage and one pair down stage. Additional VL6C's were mounted on each of the chevrons. A complement of VL 3000 profiles, VL5 Arc washes completed the design. 6 VL3500 wash lights were placed on the floor for additional effects. Brunton shares, “The schedule was very tight on this production. Getting a leg up by pre-programming for two days in the ShowViz TM Lite Lab became very important to obtain the multiple and distinctly different song looks. Mike Swinford’s set was a great concept that maximized the Gibson’s stage, seeming to make it even larger."     Dirk Op't Eynde programmed the show using a Grand MA console.  Tom Forrest, Executive Produced for TailLight TV, Jillian Ellis was Line Producer and Mike Swinford, Production Designer.
